You are South and pick up:
Scoring: MP

The auction:
(Pass)-1-(4)-5;
(5)-Pass-(Pass)-Dbl

1) Agree with your bidding?
2) What do you lead?

The bidding is fine.

I'm leading the ace of hearts. If it survives, I'll take a look at the dummy and punch it out from there.

I am leading the ace of Spades, if this survives, I take a look at dummy before I lead my second trump.

The bidding was fine.
Kind Regards

It is considered normal to lead trump when the opps are saving.... this is not as clear as it is when the opps have long trump in each hand... but it is difficult to see how the trump A can be seriously wrong

I'll cut a new path here. Was 4 making? I don't know, but I'd like to try to get +800 out of this.

We have trump control, and the heart probably isn't going anywhere. I don't want to blow a tempo with the A, crash an honor in pard's hand, or take away a guess.

I'm leading a club. If I catch Hx in declarer's hand opposite HHxx, I'll apologize.

Agree with the bidding.

Here is the full deal. (Apologies that I didn't remember the South hand entirely correct.)

Scoring: MP

I was South and thought (and still think) that the lead of the A was more or less automatic. We got a dead bottom, so the other South players had a different auction or were just much smarter than I.

Thus: Phil was right in leading a club. He would have scored 87.5% for getting it down 1. (But this also means that he was wrong in hoping that they would go for 800.)
