Nice auction and play here on board 11. Other 2 boards not too shabby.

Thiswas of course a terrible grand slam and very unlucky for pepsi and partner to get fixed like this. Great pickup for Brad and Fred of course but I don't think it is deserved.
The dummy reversal was nicely done, he played it very quickly.

Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

Why is 7S terrible? Doesn't Brad know Fred is 5440 and that he practically "has" to have Qxxxx AKxx Kxxx --- or Qxxxx Axxx KQxx --- for his bids?

With Qxxxx/AKxx/Kxxx Fred might have bid the grand over 6D.
7S is terrible because you need even splits in 3 suits, spades 3-2, hearts 4-3 and clubs 4-4. You do the math.
I think Brad knew 7S was odds against, probably not by this much, but saw a chance to pick up imps. Finishing 11th or 35th doesn't matter that much.

You are correct.
The opponents' successful (and very much odds against) vulnerable 3NT on the hand before may have also been a factor.

Did the math. No more questions. Thanks Ulven.

Arnold Palmer used to play golf this way. It definitely cost him some championships. But he won the hearts of millions of golf fans and it definitely made golf exciting.
