I am bidding 4 or transferring there with 4 depending on agreement.

If I am not sure I suppose I will have to bid 2 then raise to 4 but this loses the pre-emptive affect - maybe I'll only invite if I do this.

Agree with playing 4H, however your partnership gets there.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

Hi Kathryn

The main question on this hand is whether or not you think its worth a game force. I think that its borderline. On the one hand, you have a seven card suit to the KJ. Odds are that partner holds at least 2 Hearts. Given the strong NT opening, he might very well have an honor. Give partner Ax and your hand is suddenly worth 6-7 tricks... On the down side, you have the dread 7-2-2-2 shape. (I'd be much happier with a 7-3-2-1. I'd still probably GF, but I'd prefer a bit more shape.

The second question that you need to ask is what is the best way to get to 4H. If you're playing Texas, life is quite easy: Bid 4. Equally important, if you're playing Texas, you can't bid 2 and then follow-up with 4 since this would show slam interest.

I would show a 6-card invite however my system does that (for me, transfer to 2H and raise. I think driving game is a bit much.

Wayne you really only need ONE post to deliver this message, there have been such a lot of frivolous postings lately.

If red, bid game.

I don't understand this. Wayne takes the time to answer a question that you have for the better players on the forum, which Wayne certainly qualifies as, and you criticize the way in which he gives his response. Mildly kidding or not, I think it is in bad taste.

I agree we should really try to reduce the number of gratuitous posts (especially those that contain a full quote of another post and just add a line or two).

Your analogy post was a lot better than that one Arend. One could say that your post added nothing to a discussion that was already quite empty of content. Take this post for instance...

Well, I was expecting a retort from Wayne which would have revealed that this is nothing more than friendly banter. Wayne has suddenly burst into life on the forums and his posting style is obviously designed simply to out post me in the shortest time possible. :)

Wayne first taught my husband and I to play this game when we swapped from Yahoo Bridge to BBO. I don’t know what we had been playing but it certainly wasn’t bridge. He’s coached us on and off ever since and imo is one if the best around.
