Well 3 rebid is an underbid, so rebidding 2 was.....two underbids? hehe

This seems like a very normal 3 rebid after 1-1. This rebid shows something like a very good fifteen to a poor eighteen high card points and a good six-card or longer diamond suit (perhaps the lower end of the point range can be relaxed a bit if you have seven diamonds).

Certainly having the AKQ is nice and makes this hand a very good sixteen, but I'm not convinced this is a game force opposite a simple 1 response. You're very far from making five diamonds and you need decent stoppers in both majors and a doubleton diamond from partner for 3NT to be good. The 3 rebid shows extras (although not forcing) and partner will usually bid 3NT with an appropriate hand. This also gives partner a good picture of your strength and values and lets him decide whether to bid 3NT or look for slam in diamonds or notrump.

Aside from who held what, there is something fundamentally inconsistent about the auction you present:

- The 2D rebid limited opener's hand to "minimum range" and was non-forcing
- The 2NT rebid limited responder's hand to "invitational range" and was non-forcing

That means 6NT is not a possible bid on any hand - 6NT should not be considered a possible final contract at all when the bidding starts this way.

It would not be far off the mark to say that the *only* possible bids now are:

- Pass
- 3C (non-forcing suggesting minimum HCP and 6-4 in minors)
- 3D (strong suggestion of final contract)
- 3H (forcing suggesting maximum HCP and 6-4 in diamonds and hearts)
- 3S (forcing - a maximum with 3-card spade support)
- 3NT (signoff)

In practice opener will usually bid either 3D or 3NT.

A sophisticated partnership might try to define higher bids as various obscure hands, but I would suggest you forget about that and focus on understanding the basics of this auction.

Ehhh, well, certainly NOT like that.

I'd rebid 3 and await further bids from partner. No idea what those might be without seeing the other hand.
Kind regards,
Harald

3D rebid seems totally normal to me.

2 was a horrid bid and 6nt a gamble after the misbid.

3 is almost unanimous but I'm wondering if you chose instead to bid nt, why 3nt rather than invite with 2nt?

I think after 1 1, 3NT is not an option. If you somehow forced me to bid NT, 2NT would be the bid (18-19 balanced).

I think 2NT would be horrible though. It's the wrong strength, it badly wrongsides 3NT, and there's a perfect bid already available.

And to me as well...I am allowed to hold a max for my bids and if PD cannot go on over 3 we may not have a game as perhaps they set 3NT by leading .
