Interesting. I would have guessed forcing, asking if partner has 4 spades. I guess it's never come up.

I thought we had an earlier discussion on SA in which

1NT-2-2any-3 was GF. I would have thought by that principle that 2 would be at least a 1 round force.

But my tendency to expand such principles in SA has landed me in trouble before.

In standard bidding, a new suit after stayman is 5 cards and is forcing. By this rule, the 2 bid should be 54 in the majors. I'll leave it to others to decide whether this should be so or not.

Anyway, agree with 1NT and bid 3 now.
