Agree with jillybean's 2C and 2NT rebid. this would be tougher if we had the same shape and strength but a small diamond. (then I'd open 1C)
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

2 then 2NT seems pretty clear.

I think if I had a small diamond instead of the K, I'd still open 2 and rebid 2N. I'd have 8 tricks in hand, and if I open 1, I will play it there too much of the time when a game (slam?) our way is cold.

Hi,

the main issue with a 1 level opener is,
that after a 1C opening and a 1D response
you will face another problem,
... assuming that you play that a change of
suit on the 1 level is nonforcing.

If 1H after a 1D response to 1C is forcing, than
the gamble to open 1C is an option.
But I would say 24HCP is to much for a 1 level
opener.

With kind regards
Marlowe

I'm also opening this 2C then rebidding 2NT. If partner holds any points and has a 4+ card major, the singleton K shouldn't worry you. If your partner holds a 3334 bust, oh well, next hand, at least virtually everyone will be in the same contract (or maybe 1C). Even in this case, the LHO might have the DA and probably won't realise to lead it :)
