Sounds too unlikely on the auction that p has clubs. Dbl is pretty obvious I think.

It seems blatantly obvious partner has clubs on the auction. Where in the world else is west getting his bid without a great diamond suit on the side? I'm not saying that makes double wrong though, obviously it was a strong consensus before the hand came out.

P has promised a minor suit, I have a minor suit, and both opps bid as if they have some distributions. Let's say for simplicity that everybody has one of the minors and that two players must have clubs and two must have diamonds. Without more info than that, the chance that p and I have the same minor is 1/3.

Of course but you have a lot more info. West bid 6♥! What is his hand (which is obviously 2 suited) that does this off the AQ of both of his suits?

I think you still missed Josh's point. What you didn't take into account that LHO has a GOOD minor suit. This is only possible if he has diamonds and partner has clubs. Also I don't think you should assume RHO has a long minor.
