What is partner's pass? If the typical undefined, 3S and hope good fit saves too high.

I play Pass shows an expected 5-8 without clear action (X warns). So 3S more certain.

Further I partition 1C/1D so this hand is in 1D and partnership expects S-barrage, so 3S stands out and partner 'could/would' have put his 2-cents in with pass.

I play leaping michaels in many many sequences, this is one of them. So 4.

I double, even if I played leaping michaels I would double since we may belong in diamonds or 2S X

Double. Not happy with it but not happy with anything else either.

Even playing Leaping Michaels, it's wrong on this hand. This is a 3-suiter, and the way to show it is by a t/o double.
Kind regards,
Harald

Yes, leaping michaels is on, and I might use it since I'm not sure what to do after p takes my double out to 3 (via lebensohl if applicable). Maybe I dbl followed by 3 is a reasonable description of this hand.

I'm not sure how happy I'll be if pard leaves my t/o double in. I think I'll bid 3.
The difference between theory and practice is that in theory, there is no difference between theory and practice, but in practice, there is.

Dbl, best start imo.

I play pass here as trap or crap. Twice now, I have X'd in cases like this and partner has passed with a hand like...

J8xxx
xx
xxxx
xx

so that's what I imagine these days when I think about X vs. 3.

In this case...hmm, looks like opps will get one diamond, one club, and four trumps. 300 for us. Game looks impossible. Even if you mix cards around, you still don't have entries to dummy, so you're leading the minor suits from your hand.

So I double. I fully expect partner to have 5 spades (at this vulnerability, the 2 level isn't much of a barage) so I won't be shocked when partner leaves it in. If they make, well, I'll offer them my congratulations.

But I would be very surprised.

While I don't play a strong club anymore, I like the idea of LM here. I hadn't heard of it before.
