I am so glad that there are other people to fiddle with the details. I find that the concepts intrigue me enough.

Agree. But you don't get very far by only musing about the concepts. Even if one might think that it is premature to collect data about things we haven't even defined, the way forward is to understand data. Then brainstorm about what those data may or may not say about answers to concrete questions that may or may not have something to do with the muddy concepts. Eventually we may develop a vague feeling about what the concepts might mean.
