1.
Scoring: IMP

(3)-3-(ps)-?

How weak or strong your partner's 3H could be? Enough to bid 4H?

2.
Scoring: IMP

(3)-3-(ps)-?

Would you double here?

1. IMPs, schmimps this is a full card short of a 4H call. If I was $6 short and needed the 600 points Id try 3N.

2. Pass - color me yella.

1) Pass,we are White at IMPs and I overcall aggressively vs preempts as do my normal PDs. Game is not fav(IMHO) and my Q's dubious values.

2) OK, I have been fixed before but PD made an unfav 3 preempt in first seat. I think we are clear fav's to beat 4 and on a real good day by two tricks. I'll double and expect dummy to have no more than a couple HCP if any. Why do I double ? Well I expect an slight IMP gain from it, and my values are all firm and it won't due declarer much good to know of them, since he'll know of them anyhow once he sees dummy due to PD's preempt.

I would not think it advisable to risk doubling 4m to game at IMPs, but here, 4M is allready game.

1. Pass.
2. Pass against decent opps. 4 is a strong bid, so if RHO is lacking in cards he probably has quite some shape. Why can't there be an uptrick?

If my queens were elsewhere it would be a clear 4 on first, still I think it worth a raise.

On second pass quickly.

1 4 Heart game try
2 double, my pd in first seat holds more then QJTxxxx and out.
No, I am not sure whether they make 7,8,9 or ten tricks, on a bad day even eleven, but so be it.
Kind Regards

Roland

1. Easy pass, Kxx in trumps and Qx in clubs are good stuff, but not enough for a raise, i need one more cover card.
2. Double may work, opps are usually stretching in this position, and if they make the loss will be 5 IMP's. The win will be 3 IMP's for down one and 7 IMP's for down 2 (AK, ruff, to Ace, ruff/upercut  ). But in IMP's i'll pass, in MP's i'll double.

1: Pass, it might be wrong but it's not really close I think.
2: Pass but it's close. There's a good chance of beating it, and I would double at matchpoints.

Hi,

#1 pass, you have 1 1/2 card for partner,
be happy if it makes, be not surprised
if it goes down

#2 if you need to go for IMP's, X, else pass,
you can count on partner have a defencive
trick at those colors (most likely the Ace),
and this makes it -1.

With kind regards
Marlowe

1. Easy pass, I've got more or less just what partner on average expects me to hold. Need another cover card to raise.

2. Easy pass. If I doubled with this we had to remove more than half of our 1st hand preempts.
Kind regards,
Harald

Pass, duh, partner can have a mediocre opener with 6 hearts.

Unhappy pass. We will probably nail them but usually once. I think them making is not a whole lot more unlikely than them failing twice. So pass it is. In matchpoints double sounds mandatory.
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

1. easy pass, partner already took these values into account for his bid.
2. Another easy pass, no reason to think we can make 5 or they cannot make 4.

1. 4. If pard has a decent overcall with singleton diamond, this makes. If not, I go down.. lol. In any case, I think it's worth the risk.

2. Pass. Preempts never promised defensive tricks, even at 'red'.
