Scoring: MP

I'm a loser again  .My frend's point was that even if U DOUBLE here -your partner will not find the right lead and he was right. 6 undoubled=55.55%.
After PASS from my partner my lead was .

pass really asks for the normal lead against this bidding, which is a trump -to shorten the cross ruff- or a diamond- unbid suit.

A double asks for a major, so pd has a chance to find the right lead and he will find it with his particular hand more often then not.
Kind Regards

I don't see how a Dbl can't change anything  The normal lead with this north hand is (active), so Dbl asks an unusual lead. It can't be , so what's left?

The modern Lightner double is more complicated than in the good old times-just like Blackwood for example. The lead is usualy between 2 suits- not just 1. I would like to hear this double from my partner and the problem is now mine!

You surely had solved the problem:

The double cannot not show a chicane in Heart.
He surely has no two quick tricks in Hearts, you see the king.
So, what is left? Obviousdly some strength in spade...
Kind Regards

Your friend is mistaken. Partner (you, in this case) has almost zero chances of finding the right lead without the double. The whole "purpose" of the Lightner double is to say "I think we might can set this but you need to lead something other than what you are likely leading if I don't double". Under this context, you have a much better chance of finding the spade lead, than you do without the double. At least it was still an average board. :)

His partner did not double. He passed instead......giving him no reason to do anything except make his "normal" lead.
Is the word "pass" not in your vocabulary?

Far more interesting would have been to give partner's hand and ask what we would lead without a double, and with a double.

That would tell you if it's as clear from the hand opposite that double asks for a spade lead.

I'm not going to repeat myself at length, but because I think a spade is not an unusual lead on this auction, I think that double asking for an unusual lead does not request a spade lead in particular.

More interesting is to debate to what extent double says "I have an unexpected holding somewhere, please find it" rather than "Please make an unusual lead" or indeed "Please lead dummy's first bid suit" These aren't the same things.

Decades and decades old debate on what lightner double asks for, unusual lead, guess partner, dummies first bid suit or partners longest suit, hit my void.
