Scoring: Total Points

1-(2)-2-(6)
?

You are the underdogs near the start of a 30 board match. Stick or twist?

Pass. I might double at matchpoints, i've got a lot of stuff and 6C has a wing and a prayer flavor to it, but not here.

6S? No way.

6D
bidding on a wing and a prayer. :(

Very close second choice double.

I am not passing. Yes, 6clubs may be cold but not a complete joke I think.

It wouldn't occur to me to save, so I suspect it was right...

Just pass.

I'd bid 4 over 4.

I wouldn't bid 5 over 5, but its close.

No way am I taking this to the 6 level.

I would definitely not save, though it's worth noting I have an absolutely terrible track record in these situations. I figure saving must have been right, or else a hand with so much defense wouldn't have been posted.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

Pass. RHO made the last guess and I'm happy with that.

Hi,

Pass, although X wont cost, I doubt they
will reach 6C at the other table, i.e. if
it makes double wont cost a lot, if it goes
down I will get more money.

I did save last time, ... we agreed at this time,
that it was not one of my better ideas.

With kind regards
Marlowe

Really difficult.

I think I would double. Personal preference for seeming overoptimistic versus being pushed around from the start by the favourites.

Double? On the start of a match vs stronger opps?? That's a good way to moralize them...

This is a tough one - need to know my opponents here.
If I know them to be a very strong no-nonsense pair, I'd take the save at 6. Else not.
Kind regards,
Harald

Nope, pard bid 6 and it was a phantom. I can see why he did it given the form of scoring (if slam makes 50% of the time you probably want to be saving for 500/800) but I don't think oppo were reliable enough for him to assume that would be the case when they have only half the deck.
