Assume 1nt is 14-16 or 15-17

1nt=(2nt)=?

Do you play stayman, smolen, tfr, system on or anything over this? IF so what?

is this UNT? you can always use some sort of UVU over this. Whatever you play vs minor preemptive 2NT.

e.g.:

3=4, 5+
3=vice versa
3M=invitational (?)
3NT=obvious
4=good 4M bid possible slam interest
4=55 or better in majors
4M=s/o
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

Oddly, considering the detail to which some of my systemic agreements delve, in only one partnership have I had a written agreement, which is:

x = balanced, 8+, invites defending, if later bid 3N, shows stop, denies
3 stayman
3 transfer, at least invitational
3 transfer, at least invitational
3 transfer to 3N, promises a stopper, denies a stopper
3N to play, both minors stopped

4/ S.A. Texas (ie what we played absent an overcall), transfer to /

The decision to bid 3N, rather than to play for penalty, will depend on extent of defence and relative vulnerability

I guess it is a sign of the relative infrequency of 2N that I do not ever recall, in that partnership, ever having to use this structure. I had to go back to the notes (we haven't played in years).

I discussed this with my current partner and he plays (but had not so far shared this with me, so thx for the post):

double invites penalty
3 stayman
3/ transfer
3 puppet to 3N, expressing doubt
3N to play, no doubt

Frankly, I prefer the 1st method, and I will now try to get cp (current partner) to agree :)

Depends on what 2N shows. Some Hamilton/Cappaleti players use 2N for any big 2-suiter. Some Suction players use it for the rounded suits, others for or (+).

First case (minors): 3 is Stayman
3 is an invitational+ transfer to
3 is an invitational+ transfer to
3 is a competitive bid in
3N is to play
X is a balanced invitational hand or pure penalty
P is all the rest, including the competitive bid in

Second case (any two suits): X is a balanced invitational+ hand
3, , is an invitational+ transfer
3 is a transfer to 3N or 4
P includes competitive hands in any suit

Third case (+): X is a balanced invitational+ hand or pure penalty
3 is a transfer to , weak or strong
3 is invitational with 5+
3 is a transfer to , weak or strong
3 is invitational with 5+

Fourth case ( or Reds): X is a balanced invitational+ hand
3, , is an invitational+ transfer
3 is a transfer to 3N or 4
