semi-comfortable pass here.
game will not make too often, and at this vulnerability it's not that bad.

... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

I'm inclined to pass and see how the auction develops. It is unlikely to be going all pass, and even if it does, it is entirely possible that defending 1D may be our best shot at a plus score.
If you put a gun to my head and forced me to bid, I would still pass. (It's a bid, isn't it?)
If you put the gun to my head and forced me to make some call other than pass, I would bid 1N and then I would ask you to go ahead and shoot me now before my partner transfers me to hearts.

Is the word "pass" not in your vocabulary?

Pass, presumably LHO will bid a heart and I can double next time its my turn.

Easy pass. If considering 1NT think about it this way. If they have a heart fit you can very easily and comfortably double for takeout next round. If they don't have a heart fit, partner has 5+ and will transfer you to a dumb contract if you overcall 1NT. So I can see no reason at all to bid now.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

A small minority, OK! I think when I pass in this situation, good things rarely happen. Usually you have to make them happen.

RE Hilton out of jail: "Get the kiddies off the streets" becomes more apt and urgent.
RE Auction
IMO _P_ = 10, 1N = 6, 2 ♣ = 4, 1 ♠ = 2, _X_ = 1
- _P_ No sensible bid. Three suiters are great in defence as well as attack
Should be able to take sensible action on the next round if there is a next round - _X_ Off-shape Unprepared for OXO's 2 ♥ reply.
- 1 N Even less prepared for OXO's 2 ♦ transfer.
- 1 ♠ Poor four card suit.
- 2 ♣ Better lead direction but quo vadis

Mike Lawrence and Marshall Miles might very well overcall 1S with the example hand.
For many experts, it's a clear pass since the suit is not long enough nor good enough to make up for it being 4 cards long. Then there are the experts who would not make a Direct Overcall with this shape unless the hand was very strong (the example isn't).
In short, this situation has a big element of Partnership Agreement to it.
Don't overcall with this unless you and GOP are going to be OK with it.
