Last Truly Great Rock Album

Yes, U2 and Dylan and others continue to put out decent albums. Josh Ritter's The Animal Years, was my favorite from last year. U2 still can put out one truly great song.
The last truly Great Rock album, Nevermind by Nirvana. A desert island album.
Perhaps the advent of the Ipod and downloadable music is a hinderance to another great rock album ever coming out.

There do seem to have been few albums released over the past 10 years that wouldn't look out of place in this discussion, I'm not quite sure why.

I agree a very good one and they are from my hometown but equal to Nevermind? and they are playing 7/8 shows in Asheville NC, near my home and SF...that should be great.

I bought this on Richard's suggestion a while ago, decent but classic I think not.

Did you miss Radiohead as they drove by? Ok, how about Wilco? Green Day? Or as noted in a post before, Smashing Pumpkins?

I noticed, classic, great? Decent, ok....No, but glad to hear from others.
There is a level above decent. If you think these compared to Nevermind, fair enough, I have my doubts.

And if you consider 2003's How The West Was Won as the last great rock album, then you can pretty well zep this up

There's been a lot of good alternative music, but nothing like what came out in the 70's and early 80's.
