Hello,
My regular partner and I play Precision and use standard overcall agreements. To show 2 suited hands we use Top and Bottom and Unusual NT. Over Weak 2 openers our 2NT bid in direct seat shows 15-18 and a stop in opener suit. The following situation presented us with a big disagreement. Would like any expert input as far as what to do per our above agreement (in this situation), and any advice for how to handle such in future.
Both sides vulnerable
Opps open 2D.....(standard weak 2 bid)
I hold the following:
S x
H K 10 9 xx
D Q
C KQxxxx

How to handle?
Thx...Zoe171

The solution to this hand is to play leaping micheals, or in this case, liberal leaping Michaels (a weaker version that allows you to bid on as little as a good 9 hcp), where a jump to 4C shows a hand something like this. You can play this convention without upsetting your otherwise bidding agreements. Or you could consider Mishovnbg’s radical META overcall structure, where you can bid 3C forcing with two suit with this hand... but that requires a big overhall... . to read his ideas, see.

I think I have an easy 3c bid.

At least y r thinking about it hehehe

:D Y really have to bid on everything and misguide r pd ? First of all, this auction is almost never going to get passed out, and in the very few cases it does be very happy, cause the % of y making anything is about nil. Overcalling 3 Cl :D , yr pd mite actually expect more then 1/2 a trick. And after any bid from either opps or pd, somebody gotta bid spades, y have a very nice bid avalaible. 3 CL ;)
now pd knows what y have and after opps compete to some # of D y bid Hearts. The part about come alive with 6-5 doesn't mean y have to do it direct. Again
people just don't think ahead :D

I agree with Mike that this hand is really too weak for me to come in with 3C. I also play Leaping Michaels but reserve for stronger hands as I have no wish to preempt over a preempt.

So you think this hand is too weak for 3C, while others suggest leaping michaels 4C bid??? The hand is just good enough for 3C imo, too bad I don't have an ace

Yup too weak, there are way too many points outstanding, this is not going to get passed out. You will give pd false hope if y bid 3 Cl directly and he/she has nice hand. When r pd does something now y r very happy and so will pd. And as for the leaping Micheals, I play that GF or very close to it, preempting over a preempt ;) with leaping micheals mite be someones style but not mine.

Thanx all for your input. At the table I passed, thinking 3C or 2H would be misleading, and wishing I had a two-suited bid. Of course, then LHO bids 5D and we are out of the auction. Partner had the following and very ;) that we miss 5H game:
S J x x x x x
H A x x x x
D A
C x

Sometimes these preempts work :D But r pd had absolute perfect hand for you, don't get use to it, it will not happen again for a very long time :D

I note that the only bid most are considering is 3C, so partner is likely to be doubling 5D rather than bidding on. Since I imagine 5D is down one, it's not a huge gain.
