easy, i open the first 2 because they have 12 hcp which is opening, i dont open the last two because they dont have 12 hcp.
I open almost all 12 hcp to be with the field, i would consider passing on a strong field or good team match, but not with a and not even with B, both points are on long suit and have ok 10s. yes balance but not close to passing. need real bad to pass 12 hcp.

this i would pass.

I would open only A. I would expect almost all top players to open B as well, but I wouldn't.

Is it about system or inspiration?

Pass is written on the CC. Neither of these hands meet Rule of 20, which may be out of Top Player's consideration :) .

You choose to open? ok, no problem, you are charged. Faithfully hoping your pd will not be upset (in long term) ;) :D :D .

The T of in combination with AK and a 4 bagger is worth more than 1 hcp.

So all these hands should be evaluated as having 1 extra hcp.
Of course the crappy 4333 shape makes the hand to be downgraded.

So I would open A and B, I consider them to be a full (albeit minimum) opener.

I might open hands C and D 1st seat but not 2nd seat, I want my 2nd seat openers to be really flawless, 1st seat I might take a chance, but not 2nd seat at unfavorable.

I open A only, but would rather pass A than open B.

I miss the days when my favorite partner and I were playing a big club system with 13-16 NT and promptly passed all balanced 12's (excepting 5-3-3-2's with a fair suit, these opened 1NT).

We had a fair number of auctions like:

P-(P)-1-P-2-(3)-X

As always, the disadvantage of conservatism is that you may miss somthing your way--the advantage is that you don't get too high as often and you get to keep the axe a lot sharper.

I care about the friends I have made on BBO. Also, I am extremely concerned about the environment/ ecology/ wildlife/ the little planet that we call Earth. How much more of the world's habitat and food supply for animals do we plan on destroying. How many more wetlands are we going to drain, fill, and build on? How many more sand dunes are we going to knock down in the interests of high-rise hotels or luxury homes?

I agree passing this hand: it has no aces and no tens, and is considerably weaker than hands A and B :-)

I would also pass the hand you posted while opening hands A and B :-)

Playing 2/1 I would open A and B. Playing my limited openings I would STILL only open A and B. I don't like to open flat 11 counts unfavourable in 1st or 2nd. It just doesn't payoff. However, there is some respite when you are playing a strong NT as the opponents are not likely to be able to double you for a number. Opening this as a weak NT is asking for trouble. White I would have no problem opening any of these playing 14-16NT.

None of them.
But this is why I play baby NT, so I can open these ;)
